Reading City Church aims to be healthy, Biblical communities throughout Berks County that love and serve their neighborhoods and the city of Reading.
RCC started meeting in the IMAX theater in Reading, PA on October 10, 2010 as a group of about 50 friends. That year, Reading was named the poorest city in the USA. Our desire was to be church as simplistically as possible, to be a genuine community that loved Jesus and sought to serve the city we gathered in. Within a few years, RCC took leadership at and blended with the congregation at the historic St. James Church in West Reading.
We are a growing, young church that loves to get together whenever we can to pray, to learn, to worship, to grow, and to serve together. Whether we are hosting over a thousand people for our yearly, free Apple Festival, sharing the gospel and some fun with neighborhood children at Friday Night Kids in the park, or hosting West Reading for the town's tree lighting event, we are in the heart of our town and love to serve our neighbors. We also continue to actively serve the city of Reading by beautifying parks and volunteering for numerous nonprofits.
While much has changed since our start in 2010, the core of who we are and our commitment to our long-term vision has not changed. We are moving towards a future in which we will plant additional RCC communities that love and serve their neighborhoods and will have the transformation of Reading City as their heart. We are a young church that joyfully anticipates the future God has for us.
